Psidium angulatum (Common Names: Brazilian Guava, Araca Pera, Bayabas, Guayaba Agria) is a rare Psidium from Brazil. The plant takes the form of a large shrub 5-10 ft tall or a small tree 10-20 ft tall. The plants can handle full sun Regular and is cold hardy at least to the 30s Farenheit for a short time. An unusual and tasty wild guava from the Brazilian Amazon which is rare in cultivation. One of its defining characteristics are its beautiful wavy leaves. The fruit reach 2-3" diametere, with an acidic, sour but guava-like flavor. Its juice is concentrated and must be diluted and sweetened to produce a delicious drink. The fruit is processed into ice cream sorbet, gelatins and candies. A great container specimen. Zones 9 to 11. Seeds measure out to 0.8 by 0.7 and weight 0.2 grams.
