Plinia sp. Red Ruby is a jaboticaba cultivar introduced to the United States around 2021 from Hong Kong which is a Plinia of unconfirmed species. The leaves have an impressed primary nerve with nearly invisible pinnate veins, a semi-gloss sheen, and a minor crease along the primary vein which can also have a slightly wrinkled appearance near the primary vein. The fruit is mostly globose with minor costate ribs dissappearing as the fruit ripens. The fruit may have minor remenants of the sepal on the apex which is easily wiped off or eaten with the fruit. The fruit typically grows in small clusters of up to 6 fruit. The fruit contains 1-4 large seeds. The sweet juicy pulp is of excellent quality and similar to other jaboticabas.
