Plinia sp. Aveludada de Cabinho Jaboticaba is a rare cultivar of Jaboticaba noted for its fuzzy (aveluda) fruit that grow on long peduncles (cabinho). The lanceolate leaves are long and skinny with the downward curl that is common for Plinia truncifloras, however, there are no known Plinia trunciflora cultivars with fuzzy fruit. This may be a hybrid of Plinia trunciflora with a fuzzy fruit Jaboticaba cultivar, or it may have evolved separately. The fruit is medium size for a jaboticaba and has lots of juicy sweet pulp of jaboticaba flavor. Heavy producer. This cultivar was first made available to collectors in the USA in December 2021.
