Plinia sp. 829-TBF (Jaboticaba Anão) Jaboticaba is a very rare (only one tree known of) dwarf jaboticaba growing at the Plantarum collection in Nova Odessa, Brasil. The mother tree is located in their collection near the Plinia nana and Plinia sp. Diamantina trees. The specimen appears closer related to Plinia diamantina due its higher height. Plinia nana tops out at 1.5 meters, Plinia sp. Diamantina tops out at 2.5 meters, and the mother Plinia sp. 829-TBD tree is around 2.0 meters in height but may not be done growing. The specimen was likely collected or received by Harri Lorenzi, author of "Frutas No Brazil". The plant sets significant quantities of fruit on its few and far spaced apart branches. The flowers grow in clusters spaced 3-8 cm apart with white flowers. The fruit is costate, grows to 1.5cm with 1-2 small seeds and the sepal often remains attached to the crown. The lanceolate glabrous slightly cilliate leaves are 3-5 cm long , 2 cm wide, and bend downwards like a banana with a notable crease along the primary vein.  We have seven seeds to sell and may never get access to them again.
