Plinia salticola (Dwarf Mulchi) Seeds
Plinia salticola (Dwarf Mulchi) is native to the southern tip of North America, namely Costa Rica and Panama. The tree is slow growing but rather precocious flowering at just 4-5 years old and takes the form of a small bush if left to grow without pruning. The tree produces yellow 3cm. fruits with scant pulp which is sweet and a bity spicy. The tree can produce multiple times per year after several years of production. The leaves are similar to Plinia inflata and Plinia edulis.
Farwell Fruit Farm has grown out several hundred Plinia salticola plants and we recommend keeping them in 70% shade for atleast the first year and then gradually adding more sunlight. We had many die off in full sun during the southwest Florida summer and even some in the 30% shade die off.
