Plinia sp. Scarlet Jaboticaba (Formerly written by Farwell Fruit Farmn as a Plinia aureana x Plinia cauliflora hybrid) is thought to be either (1) a chance hybrid of the previosuly mentioned species, or (2) a cross of Red Jaboticaba (also thought to be a Plinia aureana x Plinia cauliflora) with a Plinia aureana again (thus makign is 3/4 aureana and 1/4 Plinia cauliflora even though that is not exactly how genetics works). What is clear is that Scarlet has much lighter colored fruit and larger leaves than Red Jaboticaba (it very relative) and thus additional Plinia aureana genetics is a satisfying anser. Subglobose fruits, scarlet red, side, with juicy and sweet pulp. Fruits at aroudn three years old with one outlier plant fruiting at 965 days old. Mature trees are freeze tolerant to the mid 20's Farenheit. The delicious flavor is similar to a concord grape mixed with Fruit Loops cereal. Becomes everbearing (7+ harvests per year) after 2-5 years of fruiting if kept irrigated and fertilized. Germination rates of 80%+ will continue well past 3 months from harvest. Needs daily watering and pH <7.5 either by water, soil, or amendments. Perfect for container culture.
